  • Students who participate in higher profiled athletic organizations while in college scored significantly lower than non-athlete groups on the Career Maturity Inventory and Career Development Inventory
  • Athletes invest too much of themselves into their athletic potential than into other necessary roles as a student
  • Focusing and emphasizing an athlete's athletic role distracted the students in making responsible decisions relating to the development of a career
  • Not all student athletes have a definite mindset of focusing on their athletic identities
  • Early Career Paths - Identifying certain desires or goals during undergraduate studies in order to pursue a certain career path.
  • Late Career Path - Those who are no longer interested in pursuing an amateur or professional athletic career, although in later years may apply previous knowledge from sports to find a suitable future career.
  • At what point can an individual be a successful student athlete?
  • What is require of a student to have an equal balance of both sports and academic?

  1. You made some good points here such as how athletes going to a higher profiled athletic orginazation scored lower then the nonathletic groups. I agree with this because the athletes are more focused on sports and winning a championship for their school, than they are focused on their grades.
