  • In Maryland a men's track team that once won 24 concecutive Atlantic Coast competitions has to come up with 4.2 million dollars or they lose their program along with 5 with others
  • websites were created to help collect donations and a facebook page that had over 13,500 members
  • Division I Football Bowl Subdivision universities must offer a minimum of 16 intercollegiate sports, including eight for women. Joel Maxcy, an associate professor of sport and recreation management at Temple University, said that given the economic climate and the increasing pressure for success from the revenue-generating sports like football and basketball, he expected "more universities to cut sports toward that minimum."
  • If so many schools are facing this problem why haven't they come up with a solution besides asking people for money?
  • If all of these sports are facing the same problem why doesn't any one take it to the head honcho of colleges?
  • Why does football and basketball bring in the most revenue besides people want to watch it?
  • Who can people go to so they can recieve help to support their sport?
